CLAUDE SAMTON

Born 1933

Germany

Claude Samton, an architect and photographer, has been creating large photomosaics of urban scenes and other subjects and an extensive experience designing a great variety of building types with particular expertise in religious, educational, residential, and transportation structures. He has been working in New York City for the past 25 years. Whether they be urban scenes, portraits, or other pictorial representations, his photomosaics incorporate the elements of space, time, and movement that capture the spirit of the subjects in a painterly manner. The pictures are reflections of multiple concepts within themselves. Each photograph is assembled from hundreds of images taken over a period of days, weeks or months.
