ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONS

Abstract Expressions brings together the work of Mostafa Dashti, Farid Jahangir, and Ata Hasheminejhad, three Iranian artists whose practices are rooted in their relationships with nature, place, and their immediate surroundings. Though distinct in style and approach, their works reveal how everyday environments can become a source of contemplation and artistic expression.

Mostafa Dashti is one of the most active and widely discussed contemporary painters in Iran. Born and raised in Khash, in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, Dashti developed a deep connection to the surrounding desert and mountains during his childhood. Although his more recent paintings have become increasingly abstract, traces of these early encounters with nature remain embedded within them. His use of both strong and subdued colours continues to evoke the atmosphere and expansiveness of the landscape.
