CONFERENCE OF THE BIRDS

Yasmin Sinai is constantly looking for ways to make art simple and accessible to everyone. In Conference of the Birds, the Dubai-based artist of Iranian and Hungarian origin uses recycled cardboard, needle, and thread to create a vibrant series of sculptural birds. Alongside the exhibition, Sinai also conducted workshops, inviting art lovers and students to learn and participate in the process of making the birds themselves.

The exhibition is inspired by the renowned Persian poet Farid-uddin Attar’s celebrated poem The Conference of the Birds. The poem tells the story of birds from across the world gathering to decide who should become their king. They resolve to seek the legendary Simorgh, a mythical phoenix-like bird said to live at the summit of Mount Qaf.
