DAVOOD ZANDIAN

Davood Zandian was born in Isfahan, Iran, in 1954 and moved to Norway in the late 1980s, where he continued to develop his artistic practice.

Despite the warm colours that characterise Zandian’s paintings, his canvases convey a profound sense of quietness, emptiness, and solitude. These feelings emerge from a combination of his dreams, memories, and the life and environment that surrounded him after moving to Norway, where he continues to live and work.

Zandian draws upon images and visual memories from his upbringing, transforming them into symbols and placing familiar characters and objects within quiet, almost lifeless spaces. His simple still-life compositions reflect his immediate surroundings while simultaneously revealing a more introspective and emotional landscape.
