DESERT REFLECTION

Helidon Xhixha brings together the sacred language of abstraction with its apparent opposite: the attempt to capture the elusive and shifting nature of forms as they develop through time and space. Working primarily with stainless steel, Xhixha manipulates the material through folding, turning, and marking, transforming its surface into a dynamic field of reflections.

Through sculpting the material, the artist emphasises the iridescent qualities of steel, allowing the metal to become a source of light in itself. In his wall reliefs, treated with transparent, solid-colour lacquers, and in his three-dimensional works, Xhixha creates a sensory relationship between the sculptural surface and manufactured materials, producing an unexpected futuristic visual language.
