Roots explores the beauty of nature and the importance of respecting Mother Earth. The two artists, based in Dubai and Paris respectively, approach the theme from distinct perspectives. Shaqayeq Arabi uses found materials to create installations that address the destruction of the environment, while Fereydoun Ave reflects on the cycles of energy, life, and nature through mixed-media paintings.

Arabi’s studio is filled with a wide variety of materials collected from the streets of Dubai. “I never know why I am attracted to these objects. But when I start working, these things find their place in my installations, and the reason I subconsciously picked them up becomes clear,” she explains.

The concept for Roots was inspired by uprooted bushes that Arabi discovered lying beside a road. She brought them to her studio, covered them in a layer of wax, and presented them inside an illuminated…
