VISUAL DIALOGUES

Visual Dialogues at Total Arts at the Courtyard – The Inbetween Space was the first in a new series of exhibitions exploring artistic dialogue across different generations and aesthetics. Juxtaposing artists and practices from different periods, The Inbetween Space reflects the series’ position as neither commercial nor completely institutional. It occupies a space between the museum, commercial gallery, and university classroom—an inbetween space where ideas and artistic practices can come together freely.

The first of these dialogues brought together Behjat Sadr (1924–2009) and Nazgol Ansarinia (b. 1979). The late Sadr was a pioneer of the Iranian art scene, whose subtle approach to three-dimensional and kinetic work, alongside her multimedia collages, was innovative and groundbreaking.
