COLOURS OF MOROCCO

Houda Khalladi’s work is deeply influenced by the earth and the natural landscape. Working with mixed media—including glue, gypsum, sand, spices, and pigments—she creates richly textured surfaces that evoke both the visual and tactile qualities of soil and earth. These textured grounds become the foundation for her paintings, which often depict realistic flowers and still-life compositions.

Nature, and flowers in particular, are a central source of inspiration for Khalladi. Having spent her childhood holidays in the Swiss Alps, she developed a fascination with the vast variety of plants and flowers she encountered there. Over time, this relationship with nature became an important means through which she expressed her artistic vision.

A Syrian-Swiss artist currently residing in Morocco, Khalladi has also been profoundly influenced by the colours, architecture, and landscapes of the Moroccan Kasbahs. Her paintings bring together these different…
