Shaqayeq Arabi is a multidisciplinary artist based in Dubai, whose practice moves between painting, sculpture, drawing, and installation. Her work begins with an intuitive response to image, sound, smell, and the subtle sensations of the surrounding environment. Through sketching, composing, and assembling accumulated fragments, Arabi traces layers of memory, transforming fleeting emotions and reminiscences into tangible forms.

Fundamentally abstract, her work often evokes organic and ephemeral forms. Arabi works intuitively with both found and salvaged materials—including branches, wire, palm fronds, rusted metal, and other remnants of the urban and natural landscape. Through acts of improvisation, connection, and transformation, these humble materials become fragile sculptural forms that suggest vegetal, skeletal, and birdlike presences.

Arabi’s practice is informed by a longstanding engagement with painting and calligraphy, which she began in the early 1990s. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Al-Zahra University, Tehran, a BFA from the University of Valenciennes, France, and an MFA from the Sorbonne University, Paris.

Her work has been exhibited widely across the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
